The Best Vegetables for Your Garden

Blog posted On July 24, 2015

People start personal gardens for a variety of reasons. Some find it therapeutic to work in their garden after work and on weekends, others enjoy saving money at the grocery store while adding some flavor to their dishes. Not sure where to get started? Here’s a list of easy to grow and maintain vegetables to start growing in your garden today.

Beans – Highly nutritious, grow beans in your personal garden to add to salads, snack on between meals, or cook up as a side dish.

Carrots – Carrots are a common feature of backyard gardens. The biggest threat to growing this vegetable in your garden is four-legged creatures swooping them up before you get the chance to enjoy them.

Basil – Add some robust flavor to your meals by adding basil leaves to your garden. These plants thrive in warmer weather so be sure to take advantage of the leaves during the summer months.

Peas – Peas are often added to gardens because after the seeds are planted, they need very little attention other than regular watering and harvesting. Once you grow your own peas, you will never want to go back to the canned form of the vegetable again!

Tomatoes – Never pay for expensive tomatoes in the supermarket again when you can hop outside and simply pluck some right off the vine in your own garden.

Don’t hesitate to start your own garden today. Give it a shot. Even if you have a few hiccups, you can learn and continue to grow a garden that will be the envy of all your neighbors and friends.
