Plan the Ultimate Block Party

Blog posted On June 19, 2015

It’s that time of year again for pool parties, barbecues, and block parties. Avoiding stressing over spending a fortune when gathering your neighbors and friends. Follow these four tips to plan your party on a budget:

Potluck – Make it a potluck! Rather than one person being responsible for all food, having everyone pitch in a different dish keeps costs low for everyone and provides a variety of food to choose from. Track the dishes people offer to bring to make sure you have snacks, main courses, desserts, and drinks.

Toy Bin – Of course the kids are going to want something to do. Have a bin or chest filled with toys to choose from. Hit up a local discount store for bottles of bubbles, sidewalk chalk, water balloons, hoola hoops, and balls. Have everyone bring a toy they want to share to add to the bin. This is a cheap way to ensure a day of unlimited fun and activities.

Warehouse Shopping – Is this party turning into an extravaganza? Stop in a nearby warehouse store to save money on meats, plates, utensils, and necessities for your party. You’ll save more money when stocking up on the larger quantities you need to pull off a fun and memorable party.

Games – Have a game area specifically for fun games to keep people of all ages entertained. Beanbag Toss, Clothespin Drop, and Outdoor Bowling are all great games for groups to enjoy.

What’s next? Start calling up your friends and neighbors to set up the ideal date for everyone and throw the block party of the decade!
