Making the Most of Webinars

If you find yourself attending webinars but walking away with little more insight than before, now might be the time to reevaluate. Webinars can be a handy tool to utilize in advancing your career or growing your business. But getting the most out of them can be tricky. Here are some steps to follow to make that webinar work for you.
 
1. Be Picky. Not every webinar will help you. Read the summary of the webinar carefully and make an educated decision on if your attendance will get you ahead. Your time is a valuable thing so remember not to spend it frivolously.
 
2. Register Promptly. Popular webinars can fill up quickly so when you hear about one, register promptly and add it to your calendar. Make sure it does not conflict with another appointment on your calendar. Set reminders on so you know exactly what the webinar is about and how to attend to avoid any last minute difficulties as the webinar begins.
 
3. Undivided Attention. Webinars are often viewed as something that can be attended while getting some much needed work off your plate. However, this is a big mistake. You are missing out on valuable information. Take notes to help remind you of important themes or messages. And if at all possible, attend the webinar in a location other than your desk. This will allow you to focus on the discussion and less on other distractions you have at your fingertips.
 
4. Follow Up. Most webinars email all attendees afterwards a copy of the script, a recording, and/or the slides that were shared. Rather than storing these bits of information in a folder or saved to your desktop, take the time to browse through them. Make a note of any ideas or concepts you may have missed the first time around.
 
5. Put It to Use. Finally, put these new ideas rattling around your brain to good use. Implement any pointers that were given to help you elevate your business and watch it grow. You chose to attend this webinar for a reason, most likely for the boost and motivation. So use it!
