Is Condo Living for You?

Blog posted On March 10, 2016

There are many different styles of homes so finding the one for you and your lifestyle could be a challenge. Here are some characteristics of condo living.

Shared Walls – Usually, condos are similar to apartment buildings in that at least one wall is shared with a neighbor. Yards are typically small or even confined to just a balcony area. Units are close together in a communal-like environment.

Generally HOA Fees – In general, Homeowner Association programs run condo communities. This means that garbage, landscaping, and general upkeep around the community are paid for by property owners and handled by a company. While this can be a major perk, you will also be held responsible for costs if a common area needs repairs.

Location – Condo communities also have a tendency to be located in central areas. Condos are great for those who are first starting out in real estate or need a smaller home close to a job.

Ownership – Owning a condo gives you the ability to paint, design, and decorate the interior according to your desires and preferences. However, the exterior is often strictly regulated by HOA rules and regulations to keep a consistent look throughout the community.

Condo living has many perks, especially for those looking to get their foot in the door when it comes to real estate and own a property. Do your research carefully before fully diving in because condo living is very unique.
