Get the Best Photos of Your Home with These Tips

Blog posted On March 14, 2016

Pictures say a thousand words so get a good one when broadcasting your home to potential buyers. Follow these tips to get the best photos of your home.

Cloudy Day – A cloudy day is ideal for photographing your home. While it may seem like a bright, sunny day would be best, this often creates a glare making it hard to see your home clearly. Overcast weather allows you to have the perfect mixture of light and shade accenting your home beautifully.

Slight Angle – Take the picture at a slight angle for a unique and professional result. However, don’t get too fancy taking shots by lying on the ground for an upward shot or one looking down on the house. The best shot will be from eye level as this will also be the most realistic and appealing to a buyer.

Twilight – Trying to take the pictures in the middle of summer? Chances are an overcast day will be hard to come by. Instead, take advantage of twilight! Use the diminishing light to create a makeshift “overcast” day. The setting sun will give you the perfect amount of light and shade to accentuate the features of your home. Be sure not to take the photo too early or too late – the timing here is imperative.

Highest Quality Setting – Use the highest quality setting on your camera. It is much easier to scale the image down than it is to enlarge it with the same quality. Using the highest quality setting will help get a clearer image with out the grainy or blurry texture.

Follow these tips when photographing your home to get the best photo. This will often be a potential buyers first introduction to your home.
