Gain More Traction in the Market

Blog posted On August 04, 2015

Gaining traction in an incredibly competitive market can be difficult for both Realtors and mortgage professionals alike. Don’t let struggling to find new business drag you down. Follow these tips on forging ahead in the industry:

Remember the Power of the Referral – Arguably the best way to grow your success in the housing industry is by using the power of the referral source. Simply asking people to remember you and your service when it comes to recommendations in the future is a huge business plus. Almost everyone will at some point encounter another person who is entering the housing market and asking for recommendations on where to begin. Be the name they remember. Many professionals are able to grow their business and succeed off of referrals alone. Provide the service that others want and need and will therefore be more likely to pass your name along when the opportunity arises.

Networking Is Not Limited – Think you have to be at a specific “networking” event to grow your connections? Think again! Listen to people around you and new opportunities to put yourself out there will present themselves. From parents talking at a Little League game to a neighborhood barbecue, you may be surprised to find how often people are discussing the market and in need of a professional to turn to for advice or assistance. Always keep your ears open for these opportunities and be ready to take advantage of them (without being too pushy!).

Prominent Presence – Growing your presence in the industry can be difficult as the market is saturated with Realtors, mortgage professionals, and experts. Your small town probably is booming with your competitors. So how to you stand out from the rest? Consider getting involved on social media by setting up compliant profiles and providing the information and resources people need. Making it easy for people to find the information they require will increase the chances of their returning and giving you their business since you were available from the beginning. Also, community service and volunteerism can help you meet new circles of people you otherwise may not have come into contact with. You can meet new people, feel great about yourself, and associate your name with community involvement, which is always a plus for those looking to work with someone.

There are countless other ways to gain traction in the market but these three are tried and proven to be effective. It’s not easy gaining traction in a competitive and saturated market but follow these three steps to kick start your way to success.
