Emergency Preparation

Blog posted On October 24, 2014

It’s never too soon to prepare for an emergency. Knowing the potential dangers and natural disasters prevalent or possible in your area will allow you to prepare to the best of your ability. Whether it be an earthquake, tornado, flood, hurricane, drought or winter storms, be sure you have the proper equipment ready to go should these disasters hit near home. Don’t start this process tomorrow. Begin today!

Have A Plan. Establish a meet-up location for your family. Route a safe way to get there and have a back-up location in case the original plan is unsafe.

Practice. Travel the route to your designated location to ensure the route makes sense and everyone involved understands the plan in place.

Build An Emergency Kit. Keep an emergency kit in a safe and easily accessible location to grab in the event of an emergency. Be sure to pack the kit with these essential items:
·      Canned food and can opener
·      Bottled water and water purifier
·      Flashlight and extra batteries
·      Candles and matches
·      Radio
·      Blankets
·      Fully-stocked First Aid kit

After finalizing your plan and preparation, you can feel confident that if a disaster strikes, you are ready to handle the situation quickly, safely, and efficiently.
